July 17, 2013 Shoot assessment solo – Sexiness, not continuity

Solo shoot assessment areas describe the elements of abbywinters.com solo shoots that customers demand. This element, Sexiness, not continuity, describes how traditional narrative should be discarded when producing, instead focusing only on what is sexy at the given time. Images and video are assessed separately.

Workbook: Download this 7 page (79Kb) PDF workbook, print in colour, and use it to take notes in, while watching the video.

Assignment

Download media for these two solo abbywinters.com shoots:

Talita stills: Move images that do not go directly to sexiness, to a folder “not_sexy”. What can you say about the content you removed? What should the shooter have done differently? Do not re-number the images. For each image (or, series of images), describe why you dis-included it/them.

Summarise how much shorter the set would be with this edit applied (for example, “was 242 images, now, 152 images”).

Provide two folders to your trainer, one of the sexy keepers, one of the not-sexy discards.

Carmina video: Using a free video editing program such as Camtasia, make hard cuts to remove video content that is not sexy (it’s ok if the audio is messed up from this). “Produce” the video to encode it to a reasonable file-size, a bitrate of 1,000 is acceptable. MP4 is ideal.

What can you say about the content you removed? What should the shooter have done differently? Note the original length of the video, and the revised length of the video with your cuts.

Provide the resulting media and notes to the Trainer for review. Use WeTransfer, Google Drive, Dropbox or similar to transfer the media.
